Assistant Accountant in High Wycombe - Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a talented transactional finance professional to join a leading international business within their European Finance Team. Supporting the French legal entity, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and efficient transactional accounting, working closely with colleagues across Finance, Sales and Service. This role reports to the European Finance Manager, based in the UK, and offers a varied and hands-on position within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Your new role
In this role, you will take ownership of day-to-day transactional accounting activities for the French entity, including:

• Manage end-to-end AP: invoices, intercompany, payments and reconciliations
• Review and approve banking entries
• Prepare and post month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, transactional entries)
• Administer employee expenses
• Support AR reporting and aged-debt actions with Sales & Service teams
• Assist with audits and monthly analytical reviews

What you'll need to succeed

• 2-3+ years of experience in transactional accounting roles
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and resilience under deadlines
• Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment
• Good spoken and written English and French
• Strong Excel skills and good analytical capability
