Mechanical Inspector


Location: Chalgrove, Oxfordshire (Commutable by car from Oxford, Thame, Aylesbury, Abingdon, Didcot, Wheatley, Wallingford, Henley-on-Thames, High Wycombe, Bicester)

Salary: Up to £32,500 per annum + benefits

Start Date: ASAP (notice periods considered)

This role would also be suitable for candidates with strong experience using handheld inspection tools (verniers, callipers), confidence reading engineering drawings, and a background in precision manufacturing environments such as aerospace, defence, or automotive.

As a Mechanical Inspector, you’ll play a key role in ensuring precision-engineered components meet stringent aerospace and defence standards before release.


Mechanical Inspector Benefits

Mechanical Inspector Responsibilities

  • Inspecting precision-engineered mechanical components and assemblies
  • Conducting detailed checks on safety-critical cartridges and equipment
  • Using handheld inspection tools such as verniers and callipers
  • Reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings
  • Ensuring all parts meet aerospace and defence quality standards
  • Working collaboratively within a busy quality inspection team


Mechanical Inspector Requirements


  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Hands-on inspection experience using verniers, callipers, and similar tools
  • Capable of working in metric and imperial measurements
  • Background in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of GD&T desirable but not essential
  • High attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset
