Job Description

A leading private investment firm with an entrepreneurial and growth-focused approach is looking for an experienced Investment or Portfolio Risk Analyst to join their busy London team. Working with a key global Operations Partner in the wider Enterprise Risk Function, the successful candidate will monitor and measure portfolio investment risks and work with the fund management team to develop risk mitigating/minimizing strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities of an Investment Risk Analyst

  • Acting as a point of contact for the fund/portfolio management team regarding the identification and assessment of risks – including market, credit and liquidity risks – that could adversely affect portfolio and investment performance
  • Analysing and monitoring the performance of investment portfolios
  • Undertaking due diligence on new potential investments to identify and evaluate potential investment risks
  • Developing and implementing strategies to mitigate or manage identified risks effectively
  • Working closely with the wider Enterprise Risk Function, legal and Compliance teams to ensure a comprehensive broader approach to risk management.
  • Analysing the potential commercial impact of new rules and requirements and advising the fund management team on material issues
    • Collating MI and preparing reports on portfolio risk and performance to senior management and other senior stakeholders.

Attributes & Qualifications of an Investment Risk Analyst

You will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ investment/portfolio risk experience gained within an asset management or hedge fund environment. You will have strong analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret financial data. The position is a business-facing role so strong verbal and written communication skills are required. You will be an enthusiastic self-starter with a problem-solving approach. Experience with risk management systems and software is key.
