Job Description

Middle Office Associate

This is an exceptional opportunity for you to join a newly established Middle Office team in London, supporting the build-out of a function that sits at the heart of financial operations within digital assets. The organisation is renowned for its global reach and expertise, bridging traditional finance with cutting-edge digital markets, and offers a truly international environment where your skills will be valued and developed.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring timely reconciliations, settlement accuracy, risk oversight, and regulatory reporting, all while connecting key departments such as Front Office, Operations, Risk, and Compliance.

The company culture is built on collaboration, integrity, and inclusivity, with a strong commitment to professional growth and flexible working arrangements. If you are seeking a position where your attention to detail and passion for operational excellence can make a real impact and where you'll be supported by knowledgeable colleagues -this is the perfect next step in your career.

What you'll do:

  • Identify and resolve reconciliation breaks between exchanges, wallets, clients, banks, and accounting systems with precision and timeliness to ensure operational accuracy.
  • Work closely with Dealers, Operations teams, and Finance professionals to uncover process improvements and automation opportunities that enhance efficiency across the business.
  • Manage risk processes including limit monitoring, margin requirements, margin calls, and exposure analysis to maintain robust risk oversight.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal risk policies as well as external regulatory standards through diligent monitoring and reporting.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures that guarantee compliance with EMIR, CFTC/SDR, ISDA, and other relevant regulations affecting the business.
  • Collaborate effectively with Technology, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless alignment of operational objectives.
  • Support the Head of Middle Office in building out new team structures and workflows that drive world-class client service delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing insights on best practices in trade lifecycle management and regulatory reporting.
  • Participate actively in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing settlement processes and mitigating operational risks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of reconciliations, settlements, risk assessments, and compliance activities for audit readiness.

What you bring:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within Middle Office or Operations in FS is essential for understanding complex workflows.
  • A strong grasp of financial instruments - including spot trades, futures contracts, options and their associated trade flows is required for effective reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in trade lifecycle management ensures smooth settlement processes from initiation through completion.
  • Proven ability to manage reconciliation tasks accurately between exchanges, wallets, clients' accounts, banks, and accounting systems is vital for operational success.
  • Experience developing or implementing procedures for regulatory reporting under frameworks such as EMIR, CFTC/SDR or ISDA is highly desirable.
  • A continuous improvement mindset enables you to identify areas for process optimisation or automation within daily operations.
  • Comfort working within fast-paced environments allows you to adapt quickly to changing priorities without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills facilitate effective collaboration with Dealers, Operations staff, Finance teams as well as Technology and Compliance stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical abilities support thorough risk management activities including limit monitoring and exposure analysis.
  • Understanding of crypto products or digital asset markets would be advantageous but not mandatory.
