Job Title: Accountant / Assistant Manager
Location: Harrogate
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (Flexible hours)
Hybrid: 2 days per week from home
We are delighted to be recruiting an Accountant / Assistant Manager on behalf of our client, a well established and growing professional services firm offering finance and legal services.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice trained accountant looking to take the next step into a management role as previous management experience is not essential. In this role, you will supervise a small team of junior colleagues while managing a diverse portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact and ensuring the delivery of high quality compliance and advisory services.
The role offers genuine progression, exposure to a varied client base and the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities of Accountant / Assistant Manager:
- Managing a portfolio of accounts clients and acting as the primary client contact
- Overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Managing the preparation of corporation tax returns
- Reviewing and managing VAT returns
- Delivering additional services including management accounts and forecasting
- Supervising, supporting and training junior team members and apprentices
- Supporting senior management with process improvements and workflow efficiencies
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately, on time and in line with regulatory standards
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 5 years' experience within an accountancy practice
- ACA or ACCA qualified preferred but not essential
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator with strong client facing skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage a varied workload
- Proactive, forward-thinking and self-motivated
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £38,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience.
