Job Description
Purpose of the Role:
To provide accurate, efficient, and reliable bookkeeping support across a varied client portfolio. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of VAT returns and management reports. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to supporting clients and internal team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and record sales, purchase, and bank transactions accurately in Xero or other client systems.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure ledgers are kept up to date.
- Maintain purchase, sales, and nominal ledgers, ensuring all entries are properly coded.
- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns and expense reconciliations.
- Assist in gathering and organising documentation for management accounts and year-end reviews.
- Communicate regularly progress, deadlines, and any identified issues or variances.
- Follow established processes and contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the outsourcing function.
Skills & Attributes:
- 2 years’ bookkeeping experience, ideally within a practice or outsourced services environment.
- Proficient in Xero and Excel (knowledge of Dext or similar systems advantageous).
