Job Description

Automation Engineer (FMCG / Automotive)

Bolton | £50,000 - £55,000 + up to 10% bonus

If you're an Automation Engineer who enjoys working with fast-moving production lines, robotics, and modern control systems, this is a chance to work right at the cutting edge of FMCG / automotive manufacturing.

We're a technology-driven manufacturer investing heavily in automation, robotics, and mechatronic systems to keep our production lines efficient, flexible, and future-proof. You'll be joining a business where engineering is valued, innovation is encouraged, and good performance is genuinely rewarded.

Why engineers choose us
  • Work with advanced automation & robotics - From high-speed FMCG lines to automotive-style precision systems, you'll be involved with modern PLC-controlled machinery, robotic cells, and integrated mechatronic solutions.

  • Be rewarded for what you deliver - An annual bonus of up to 10%, linked to company and individual performance.

  • Clear salary progression - Annual pay reviews, so your development and contribution are recognised year on year.

  • Strong base salary - £50,000-£55,000 depending on experience.

  • Engineering-led culture - Decisions are made with input from the people who understand the machines best.

  • Stable Bolton location - A permanent, site-based role with no constant travel.

The role

As an Automation Engineer, you'll work on the design, development, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing systems. This includes:

  • Supporting and developing PLC-controlled equipment, robotic cells, and servo-driven machinery

  • Working on mechatronic systems that combine mechanical, electrical, and software elements

  • Improving line performance, reliability, and changeover flexibility

  • Supporting new equipment installation and technology upgrades

You'll work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams, seeing your ideas move from concept to reality on the factory floor.

DCS Recruitment and all associated companies are committed to creating a working environment where diversity is celebrated and everyone is treated fairly, regardless of gender, gender identity, disability, ethnic origin, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital or transgender status, age, or nationality
