Elevation Recruitment’s Skilled Shop Floor Division has been exclusively retained to manage a recruitment campaign for our prestigious client, Spooner Industries, based in Ilkley, Leeds.

Spooner Industries Limited specialise in providing tailored solutions to process industries. They are experts in the use of forced convection technology.

Spooner Industries engineer dryers, ovens, coolers, oxidisers and are environmental solutions across a wide range of industries including paper, converting, metals and food.

The Role: Permanet Export Packer with Side Loader

Hourly rate: £14.61 - £15.74 per hour dependant on experience

Shifts: Monday to Friday - Days

Overview: We are seeking a skilled Logistics Operative with a strong understanding of interpreting engineer drawings and possesses a good knowledge of methods when picking/packing machinery parts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting drawings and works orders to understand what parts are required to be shipped.
  • To safely operate the overhead crane and lifting/sling equipment to move machinery and parts.
  • To safely operate FLT and appropriate lifting tools.
  • To perform daily pre-use checks and maintenance of the forklift trucks on site
  • To safely operate the appropriate tools to pack equipment using timber e.g., circular miter saw, table saw, pneumatic nail and stapling gun.
  • To design and manufacture packing cases and crates for machinery, components and spare parts.
  • To operate the shrink-wrap equipment in the packing of machinery, components and spare parts.
  • To be responsible for packing parts for packing using the works orders and ensuring the associate paperwork is with the relevant parts.
  • To be responsible for picking parts from the factory according to the works orders and deadlines.
  • To be responsible for the housekeeping inside the factory and outside in the timber storage areas, ensuring it is always clean and safe.
  • To be responsible for monitoring the timber stock levels, shrink-wrap and packing consumables stock and report when the stock hits the reorder level.
  • To liaise with the Factory Team Leaders and Design Office on the best shipping methods.
  • To load and unload export shipping containers to make efficient use of the container volume.
  • To assist when required by driving company vehicles (truck, van or car) to deliver and collect machinery, machine equipment and components to sub-contract suppliers and customer sites.
  • To assist in assembly and dismantling of equipment in readiness for packing for shipment or delivery.
  • To ensure that picking, packing, delivery and collection deadlines are met.
  • To adhere to the company safe systems of work and appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
  • To be flexible in undertaking any other duties commensurate to the level of post and in accordance with the needs of the business.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a fast-paced logistics environment.
  • Understanding of the appropriate methods of packing ranging from smaller to larger machinery.
  • In-depth knowledge of picking parts procedures and packing.
  • Good IT skills.
  • FLT and slide loader license.
