Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: Manchester
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (early finish on Fridays)
Working Pattern: Fully Office based
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a well-established organisation based in Trafford Park, Manchester. Reporting directly into the Finance Director, this role offers broad exposure across transactional accounting, month-end processes, and financial reporting, ideal for someone looking to progress their finance career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Finance Director with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Sales ledger management, including posting customer receipts, credit control, invoicing, and query resolution
  • Purchase ledger duties, including processing supplier invoices, statement reconciliations, and payment allocations
  • Assisting with preparation of balance sheet, profit & loss, and cash flow reports
  • Supporting forecasting and budgeting activities
  • Completing month-end processes accurately and to deadline
  • Delivering timely and accurate financial information to support business and functional requests
  • Reviewing the general ledger, including manual journal entries, intercompany transactions, and fixed assets
  • Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
  • Weekly and monthly payroll processing
  • Preparation of supplier BACS payments
  • Assisting with audits as required
  • Supporting the preparation of quarterly group VAT returns

About You:

  • AAT qualified, or part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA
  • Experience working within a busy finance function
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
  • Confident managing both transactional and month-end responsibilities
  • Sage 200 experience would be advantageous not essential
