Senior Solutions Architect / Backend Developer

Location: Hybrid – Hatfield (Tues–Thurs on-site)

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

Type: Full-time, Permanent (no visa sponsorship)

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Solutions Architect or Senior Backend Developer who wants to take real ownership, someone excited to help scale a successful startup into its next chapter of growth.

You’ll lead from the front, designing and building AWS serverless architecture, guiding the backend roadmap, mentoring a team of six engineers, and helping shape the future of a product that’s moving fast.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and build backend systems using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and other cloud-native tools.
• Work in Node.js (TypeScript), Python experience welcome too.
• Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of devs, product, and leadership.
• Mentor and enable developers, set standards, lead by example, and provide technical direction.
• Contribute to a clean, well-documented codebase and system architecture.
• Help the company scale internationally, improving performance, integrations, and platform reliability.

What You’ll Need

• Strong experience in AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, S3, etc.)
• Node.js / TypeScript backend experience (or Python with a willingness to use Node)
• Experience designing and building REST APIs and microservices
• History of mentoring engineers, setting standards, and improving delivery
• Passion for startups, scaling, and seeing your impact

Bonus Points For

• Experience scaling a product or platform from early stage to growth
• AWS CDK / Terraform / IaC tools
• A future-CTO mindset: big on documentation, clean architecture, and team enablement
