Job Description

Account Manager/Customer Success

Location: Horley (Hybrid working)

£30,000 – £35,000 Basic + £45,000 - £50,000 OTE

Are you a relationship-led sales professional who thrives in complex, consultative environments? Do you enjoy working with major public sector customers and turning long-term relationships into real commercial value?

We’re looking for an Account Manager – Public Sector to take ownership of a portfolio of high-value public sector accounts, grow existing relationships, and identify new opportunities across an innovative energy and data services portfolio.

The Role

This is a pivotal role focused on account growth, retention, and customer satisfaction. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to key public sector clients, understanding their challenges and shaping solutions that deliver measurable impact.

You’ll be responsible for managing the full account lifecycle — from strategy and opportunity development through to proposals, tenders, negotiations, and long-term account planning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major public sector accounts, increasing share of wallet and long-term value.
  • Identify new opportunities through referrals, inbound enquiries, and proactive outbound activity.
  • Develop and execute account development strategies with clear short- and medium-term goals.
  • Build deep customer understanding to position solutions that genuinely support client objectives.
  • Lead the preparation of tenders, proposals, quotes, and product demonstrations, ensuring professional and timely follow-up.
  • Present and sell a portfolio including utility metering, data services, EV charging solutions, and energy & carbon reporting.
  • Work closely with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Technical, Operations, Project Delivery, Commercial and Support) to deliver seamless customer outcomes.
  • Represent the business at exhibitions, events, and customer meetings.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, forecasting, and documentation of sales activity and negotiations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in account management or consultative sales, ideally within the public sector.
  • Strong understanding of complex sales cycles, tendering processes, and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust, positioning yourself as a long-term advisor, not just a salesperson.
  • Confident negotiator with the ability to adapt to changing customer needs and unexpected challenges.
  • Highly organised, commercially astute, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and persuasively.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Bring

  • A customer-first mindset with a focus on long-term relationships.
  • Professionalism, resilience, and calm under pressure.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to balance reactive demands with strategic account growth.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and personal development.

Why Join?

  • A chance to work with high-profile public sector customers on meaningful, future-focused solutions.
  • A role with real ownership, visibility, and influence.
  • Supportive leadership, clear objectives, and structured development reviews.
  • The opportunity to grow your career in a collaborative and forward-thinking sales environment.
