We are seeking a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary building services team based in Worcester. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to take technical ownership of complex electrical designs while mentoring teams and engaging directly with clients.
The position is suited to a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer who combines strong technical capability with commercial awareness and a collaborative approach to project delivery across a range of sectors.

The Role
As a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead electrical design activities from early feasibility through to construction, commissioning, and handover. You will act as a technical authority within the business, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and sustainable design solutions are delivered consistently across projects.
You will work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, BIM teams, contractors, and clients, contributing to both project delivery and the wider strategic growth of the consultancy.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Project Delivery
  • Lead electrical design teams across multiple building services projects and sectors
  • Take full responsibility for electrical design delivery from concept, detailed design, and tender through to construction and handover
  • Act as lead designer for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, project briefs, and sustainability targets
  • Prepare, review, and approve calculations, specifications, schedules, drawings, and BIM models
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and design team members to ensure smooth project delivery

Team and Resource Management
  • Manage project resources, workloads, and priorities to meet programme and budget requirements
  • Monitor project performance and support effective cost and risk management
  • Encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Support training, development, and progression of engineering staff

Business Development and Client Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor
  • Support bid preparation, fee proposals, and technical input into tenders
  • Identify opportunities for repeat work and contribute to business growth initiatives

Professional Development and Industry Engagement
  • Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and sustainable design practices
  • Participate in CPD activities, professional forums, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Promote best practice and technical excellence across the wider engineering team

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with MCIBSE or MIET
  • Minimum 6 years’ post-qualification experience in electrical building services design
  • Proven experience leading projects through RIBA Stages 5–6, including site delivery and commissioning
  • Strong knowledge of low-carbon, sustainable, and energy-efficient building services design
  • Experience delivering projects within BIM/Revit environments
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience liaising directly with clients

Desirable Experience
  • Healthcare, BREEAM, or complex regulated-sector project experience
  • Exposure to modular MEP, DfMA, or off-site construction methodologies
  • Knowledge of dynamic thermal modelling and energy analysis tools
  • Confidence in client-facing, business development, and key account roles

Personal Attributes
  • Clear and confident communicator at all levels
  • Proactive problem-solver with a collaborative mindset
  • Well-organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working to deadlines
  • Natural leader capable of motivating and developing high-performing teams
  • Flexible approach, with occasional UK travel as required

Why Apply
This is a standout opportunity for a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer to take a leadership role within a forward-thinking consultancy delivering technically challenging and high-profile projects. You will have genuine influence over design quality, team development, and client relationships while progressing your career in a supportive and collaborative environment.
