Job Description

Group Financial Controller | Bolton (Hybrid) | £80,000 – £85,000 + Bonus + LTIP | Private Equity–Backed Leisure Business | High-Growth, Acquisitive Group

Axon Moore is partnering with a fast-growing, PE-backed business in Bolton to recruit a Group Financial Controller. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with an outstanding CFO at a pivotal moment for the organisation, with significant transformation, investment, and M&A activity underway.

About the business:

This is an acquisitive, private equity–backed group with strong momentum and a clear strategic growth plan. They are embarking on a major finance transformation programme and require a high-calibre technical leader to help shape, scale, and modernise the group function. With multiple divisions and strong investor support, this is an exciting time to join.

Where does the role fit?

The Group Financial Controller will:

• Build and develop their Group Finance function, establishing structure, clarity and BAU processes
• Lead the group consolidation process and improve visibility across multiple divisions
• Own the group audit, acting as key point of contact for external auditors
• Work closely with the CFO on high-profile and confidential projects including transformation, M&A and post-acquisition integration
• Play a key role in developing the financial control environment as the group scales

Culture:

You’ll be joining a progressive, ambitious and forward-thinking business with a high-performing finance leadership team. The CFO is exceptional and committed to mentoring the successful candidate. The wider culture is modern, fast-paced, commercially driven and well aligned with PE expectations — but remains collaborative, supportive and people-centred.

Candidate profile:

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), technically strong
• High gravitas with the credibility to influence senior divisional leaders
• Confident, articulate communicator who can operate independently
• Comfortable in a fast-changing, PE-backed environment with evolving structures
• Ambitious, resilient and motivated by building things from scratch
