Job Description
Our client, a well-established business based in Burton, is looking to recruit an Accounts Supervisor to join their finance team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining the business’s cashflow, supervising two team members, and assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with all-round accounts experience who is looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and friendly environment. Study support (ACCA/CIMA) and genuine progression opportunities are available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Sales Ledger across multiple currencies — including invoicing, allocating receipts, sending statements, and producing month-end reconciliations and reports.
- Conduct credit checks for new customers, liaise with credit insurers, and set up new customer accounts in the system.
- Oversee credit control — chase aged debt, contact customers proactively regarding payments, and resolve invoice queries.
- Act as the main point of contact for the finance team (two direct reports) and other departments, escalating issues to the Financial Controller as required.
- Ensure the finance team meets all deadlines, highlighting any issues or delays.
- Take responsibility for training and development within the department.
- Assist the Financial Controller with month-end procedures and other ad hoc finance projects.
- Provide cover and support across the finance function as needed.
- Contribute to process improvements within the department.
About You:
- Previous experience in an all-round accounting role or working across both ledgers.
- Supervisory or team leader experience would be an advantage.
- AAT qualification preferred, though not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
What’s on Offer:
- Competitive salary
- 26 days annual leave + statutory holidays
- Study support (ACCA/CIMA)
- Excellent opportunities for progression
- Supportive and friendly working environment
