Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working on behalf of a leading manufacturing business that produces and distributes high-performance alloys. They are seeking a Heat Treatment Operative to join their ever-expanding team at their Sheffield facility.

Shift Pattern

This role works on a 3-shift rotation, covering:

  • Days: Monday to Friday, 6am–2pm

  • Afternoons: Monday to Friday, 1pm–9pm

  • Nights: Monday to Thursday, 8pm–6am

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out heat-treatment processes across a range of high-performance alloy products, ensuring each stage meets strict metallurgical and quality specifications.

  • Operate furnaces, ovens, quench systems and related equipment, following controlled procedures for tempering, annealing, solution treatment, hardening, and stress relieving.

  • Monitor temperature profiles, soak times and cooling rates, ensuring all parameters align with heat-treatment instructions.

  • Perform accurate material identification before and after processing and immediately report any anomalies to the Chargehand or Heat Treatment Manager.

  • Build, load, and break down charges safely, ensuring correct layout, spacing, and fixture selection to guarantee consistent results.

  • Conduct straightening and Brinelling work as required, ensuring products meet dimensional accuracy and surface integrity targets.

  • Maintain complete traceability and accurate administrative records for all processed material.

  • Work efficiently to meet customer deadlines while complying with Health & Safety and environmental policies.

Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience within a heat-treatment environment (metals or alloys) is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with furnace controls, thermocouples, quenching processes, and heat-treatment cycles would be beneficial.

  • Forklift and side-loader training provided.

  • Manual handling training provided.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow process-driven work to high standards.

  • Confident working in an industrial, production-based environment.
