Pastoral and Engagement Leader (SEMH Specialist) Start Date: ASAP for the right candidate
We are looking for an experienced professional to lead on behaviour policy and practice and provide targeted support for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for someone with a strong behavioural background and proven experience in SEMH settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on behaviour systems and strategies across the school.
- Develop and implement interventions to support emotional and social development, including mental health needs outlined in EHCPs.
- Use specialist skills in de-escalation, trauma-informed practice, and positive behaviour support.
- Support pupils through individual action plans, mentoring, and targeted interventions.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to create inclusive learning environments and adjust plans to meet pastoral needs.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure consistent support.
- Contribute to safeguarding processes, including referrals and multi-agency meetings.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff and families on behaviour management and SEMH strategies.
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience working with SEMH students in a school or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and relational approaches.
- Ideally Team Teach trained (or similar).
- Ability to lead and influence behaviour policy and practice.
Preferred Background:
- Pastoral leadership or teaching experience.
- Skilled in supporting pupils with complex needs and managing challenging behaviour.
