Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be supporting a specialist manufacturer in their search for an Assistant Production Manager. A people management role, overseeing skilled mechanical and digital assembly operatives in an ever-growing business unit.

The core duties of the Assistant Production Manager are to ensure products are assembled safely, efficiently, on time, and to the required standards. The role will lead operational change, improve productivity, reduce costs and drive continuous improvement across the department, whilst acting as deputy for the production Manager when required. 

Role duties:

- Assist with resource allocation, capacity planning, and labour scheduling to ensure delivery service.

- Monitor, measure and report on production related process performance (OTIF, Scrap rates) & general issues.

- Ensure items are assembled to specification, collaborating with engineering, quality and maintenance teams to resolve issues promptly.

- Supervise assembly staff, providing leadership, training, and motivation to ensure optimal performance and adherence to company policies. Ensuring team is trained and coached in all aspects of their role, creating a continuous improvement/ 5s culture and teamwork

- Lead or support change management initiatives,  including process improvements, organisational changes, and technology adoption to continually advance performance

- Ensure equipment is maintained and maintenance schedules are adhered to minimising down time.

- Support implementation of new equipment, processes and technology.

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or 5S to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Skills requirements for the role: 

- Proven experience in managing production processes, equipment and workflow management. This will ideally be in a complex manufacturing/ technical assembly setting

- Knowledge of Health & Safety standards to drive the right culture - IOSH Managing Safely Certificate a benefit

- Supporting or leading change management and continuous improvement projects. Use of lean / 55 / Six Sigma principles and the ability to embed into the culture of the department.
