EC&I Engineer

Location: Sheffield / Hybrid

Contract:6 Months

About the Opportunity

Ford & Stanley Interim are working with a leading engineering and technology group to recruit a highly experienced EC&I Engineer to operate at group level. This is a key role with a strong focus on compliance, governance, and technical assurance.

If you thrive on setting standards, reviewing and approving complex designs, and ensuring engineering integrity across a diverse portfolio of projects, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.

As the technical authority for Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I), you’ll provide oversight, assurance, and sign-off on critical engineering deliverables across the organisation.

The Role

You’ll act as the group’s EC&I technical authority, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. This is a strategic yet hands-on position where your expertise will shape engineering governance and technical assurance across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the group’s EC&I technical authority, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
• Lead the development and enforcement of EC&I engineering policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
• Review, approve, and sign off on technical documentation, designs, and safety-critical systems.
• Provide expert guidance and assurance across EC&I activities, including audits and technical reviews.
• Support project teams with high-level technical input and ensure consistent application of best practices.

Candidate Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional recognition.
• SC clearance (or the ability to obtain it).
• Extensive experience in EC&I engineering within regulated, safety-critical environments.
• Strong background in compliance, governance, and technical assurance.
• Proven ability to review and sign off on complex engineering work with confidence and authority.
• Deep understanding of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., IEC 61508, BS EN 60204, PUWER, ATEX).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
