Job Description

Financial Controller – Doncaster | £50,000–£59,000 + Benefits
Perfect first move from practice into industry

Are you a recently qualified accountant ready to make your first move from practice into a dynamic, growing business?
Chase & Holland are delighted to be working exclusively with a fast-growing SME manufacturing company in Doncaster, seeking a proactive, technically strong Financial Controller to join their leadership team.

This newly created role offers the perfect step into industry, combining the structure and standards of practice with the pace, variety, and commercial impact of a modern manufacturing business.

What’s on offer
  • Salary £50,000–£59,000 (DOE)
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Westfield Healthcare Scheme
  • Employee assistance & wellbeing programmes
  • Flexible / hybrid working after probation
  • Long-term development and clear career progression
Your role
As Financial Controller, you’ll take full ownership of the finance function — a fantastic opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a commercial, hands-on environment.
You’ll be responsible for:
  • Month-end close, management accounts, and group consolidation
  • Preparing management information and insightful board packs
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and adding commercial commentary
  • Ensuring compliance across VAT, tax, R&D, and audit standards
  • Managing the audit process and liaising with external advisors
  • Improving systems, processes, and ERP efficiency
  • Creating KPI dashboards and delivering actionable financial insight
  • Mentoring and supporting a small finance team

About you
This role suits a qualified (or finalist) ACA / ACCA accountant from practice who’s ready to take their first step into industry. You’ll be confident with financial reporting, audit principles, and controls — and eager to broaden your experience in a fast-paced business setting.
We’re looking for someone who is:
  • Technically strong with a solid understanding of accounting standards
  • Comfortable working with multi-entity consolidations
  • Curious, commercially aware, and keen to add insight beyond the numbers
  • Skilled in Excel and familiar with ERP or accounting systems
  • Motivated, detail-focused, and ready to grow with a scaling business

Why this role?
This is a rare opportunity to transition from practice into a key industry role where you’ll have autonomy, influence, and the chance to develop quickly.
You’ll work closely with a supportive leadership team in a business that values continuous improvement and professional growth.

If you’re looking for a career-defining first move from practice, where you can make an immediate impact and continue to progress - apply now or contact Chase & Holland for a confidential discussion.
