Job Description

Finance Manager | VC-Backed Tech Start-up | London / Hybrid

The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be supporting a high-growth, VC-backed technology scale-up on the search for a Finance Manager to join their team. Having developed an industry-leading product that is transforming how organisations operate, the business has achieved impressive market traction, with consistent year-on-year growth and an ambitious roadmap for international expansion.

Their mission-driven culture is built around collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, combining cutting-edge technology with a commitment to positive impact. Backed by a strong leadership team and an experienced investor base, this is an opportunity to join a business at an exciting inflection point in its journey.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in providing accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to drive strategic decision-making across the business.

This hands-on position acts as the bridge between transactional finance and senior leadership, with ownership of the management accounts cycle, cashflow forecasting, and financial controls. It's an ideal opportunity for a qualified accountant seeking greater autonomy, influence in a dynamic, fast-scaling environment and management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow reporting.
  • Post and review month-end journals, ensuring all reconciliations are complete and accurate.
  • Maintain rolling cashflow forecasts and monitor daily cash movements.
  • Oversee the AP and AR team, improving controls, and supporting collection processes.
  • Manage payroll, pensions, and statutory submissions to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Lead the annual statutory audit and R&D tax credit process, coordinating with external auditors and advisors.
  • Support the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis to support business strategy.
  • Continuously improving processes, implementing automation, and systems upgrades to increase efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally with commercial and operational teams to ensure alignment of financial and business priorities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

What we need to see (essential):

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience owning management accounts, including month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, confident handling large datasets.
  • Comfortable working across both transactional and analytical aspects of finance.

What we would like to see (non-essential):

  • Experience in a tech or SaaS environment, ideally within a start-up or scale-up.
  • Previous exposure to process automation and finance systems implementation.
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced business.

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum + benefits
