Purchasing Job Description

Procuring goods, equipment and services for a company is the main role for those involved in purchasing.

Purchasers look at cost comparisons and the quality of goods or services; their job is to get the best possible value for their employers.

Employees in purchasing need to have a good head for figures as well as being good negotiators.

Elements of the job will usually require data analysis, and it would depend on the type of employment sector as to what would be purchased.

Employers may ask for a qualification in their specific area of business, and experience in purchasing is always welcome.
