Publishing Job Description

Publishing covers a broad range of sub-sectors that include newspapers and magazines, books and journals - including electronic journals - newsletters and reports, and databases and directories.

Newspapers are large employers in the publishing industry, and jobs include editors and sub-editors, journalists, illustrators and photographers on the creative side, with sales executives and advertising managers working on finance generation.

Magazines need writers and photographers as well as layout artists, and book publishers look for good proofreaders and editors as well as skilled marketing and public relations employees.

The newspaper world is highly competitive so a degree in a relevant media subject will be an advantage.
