San Francisco Area Description

One of the most recognizable cities in the world, San Francisco is famed for the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, the cable cars that run up and down its steep hills, and the birthplace of the counter culture of the Summer of Love in the 1960s.

It’s not surprising that tourism is a major employer in this Pacific coast city in northern California.

Though tourism is a vital part of its economy, San Francisco is home to the financial industry as well, with many multinational banks, large financial institutions and venture capital companies based there.

The city is also host to many professional services such as law, design and public relations.
