Emergency Job Description

The emergency services are often the first in line when accidents or life-threatening situations happen.

Employees need to be able to think quickly on their feet and, depending what emergency service they belong to, have specialized training. Police, firefighters and health services, through ambulances and paramedics, require candidates to have a zeal for public service, work well in a team and be able to follow instructions and orders quickly and effectively.

Many jobs in emergency services do not require a degree, unless they are medical specialists, but a good level of high school education and a "can do" attitude are useful attributes to have.
